Reflections on the Year

As we close out the year, I’ve been sitting with a deep sense of gratitude and a lot of quiet reflection about how far we’ve come together. This year wasn’t just “busy.” It was meaningful. It was stretch-and-grow work. It was the kind of progress you feel in your chest because it’s tied to real children, real families, real staff, and real hope.
A year of building what our families deserve
In April, we opened our very first space, our first true home base. That milestone was about more than keys and walls. It meant that young children diagnosed with autism and other developmental differences could access shared space, stability, growth, and guidance in a setting intentionally built for them. A place where routines can become safe again. Where learning can happen without rushing. Where families can exhale, even if just for a moment, because someone else is holding the vision with them.
In May, we launched health insurance for our employees. That decision was a values decision. Our team is the heartbeat of this work, and it mattered to align our infrastructure with the level of care and commitment our staff bring every day. Supporting the people who support our families is not a perk—it’s part of doing this the right way.
In August, we opened an additional connected space designed with older learners in mind—social skills, peer connection, and a calmer atmosphere that respects sensory needs and nervous system regulation. Our environments aren’t accidental. The textures, the layout, the flow, the calm—those details are strategic. We design for dignity. We design for safety. We design for growth that doesn’t require a child to “push through” distress to be successful.
Community care in action
One of the most meaningful moments this year was hosting our very first Sensitive Santa. It’s hard to put words to what it feels like to see a community show up—staff, volunteers, and families—creating a holiday experience that honors sensory needs and protects the magic of childhood.
That event reminded me of something important: when we build with compassion, people respond with compassion. And when families feel seen, the impact goes far beyond a single day. We absolutely look forward to hosting more community events in the year ahead—because belonging isn’t extra. It’s foundational.
Where we’re headed next
As proud as I am of what we’ve built, I’m just as energized by what we’re building next.
We’re actively working toward expanding transitional supports for our older kiddos; services and spaces that help prepare learners for the next chapters of life with confidence and practical skills. We’re also moving forward with our sensory gym, cafeteria, and café, which we see as more than “added features.” They’re part of a bigger ecosystem—a place designed for our community to gather, regulate, connect, and grow.
This growth is intentional. It’s strategic. And it’s personal.
Because I don’t just believe in the potential of our children and families—I believe in their right to have systems around them that are stable, compassionate, and built to last. I can’t wait to deepen our ability to engage with the community and be a true resource for those who need support, understanding, and a path forward.
Thank you. Truly.
To everyone who made this year possible: God, my husband, my family, friends, colleagues, and clients, thank you.
“Thank you” never seems like enough, but please know this: my cup is always full. Not because the work is easy, but because the purpose is clear, and the people in this community are extraordinary.
Here’s to a new year of continued growth, deeper connection, and building what’s next... together.
